Ghosts Before Breakfast (2025)

for string quartet, 7’

Affectionately referred to as “Ghosts After Dinner” (due to its nighttime premiere) or just simply “Ghosts” by my friends and I, this piece was the result of a year-long string quartet class at NYU. Initially an attempt at scoring the 1928 film by the same name, the piece instead draws imagery from the film and acts as a sort of companion piece. “Ghosts Before Breakfast” received its premiered by The Rhythm Method in April 2025.

Marvels in the Mountains (2025)

for string quartet and percussion, 9’

“Marvels in the Mountains” was written for the FAB5 at the Mostly Modern Festival using some previous material that used chant-like themes that developed until they were shreds of themselves. Possibly my most programmatic work as simplistic beauty and intense complexity battle throughout.

Subway Story (2025)

for mixed ensemble (flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello, guitar), 5’

“Subway Story” is inspired by the miscellaneous adventures on the NYC subway. The piece describes the hustle and bustle but also those rare moments of simple tranquility. The premiere by members of Contemporaneous was in May 2025 in partnership with Nevermind the Noise. The premiere concert featured 16 new pieces for the ensemble, each receiving only a single 20 minute rehearsal due to the sheer amount of new music. A tremendous achievement to all involved!
